Fulfilling the Plan: Part 3 Small Steps

In Part 1: A Choice to be Transformed, I urged you to pursue daily transformation seeking God to change you and bring you newness of life. In Part 2: Exchanging the Limited for the Limitless I challenged you not to focus on the natural world but pursue the spiritual, infinite abundance of God and His presence. Choose to allow God’s Spirit to move you forward empowered by His breath upon your back.

Fulfilling God’s plan for your life is simply a choice, a desire to hear from God, “…Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:21).

It is not about religion it is about relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says even the demons believe and tremble. There is a difference between being a believer or a disciple.

God wants disciples; He is calling you to be His disciple and let Him live through you. You believe in God and that is the start, then it is your daily choice to obey God, allowing Him to transform you by the renewing of your mind. This is letting God not just be Savior but also Lord of your life. Each day you purpose for the Lord, and year after year you move forward in Him being sanctified for His purpose choosing to search the infinite and limitless. It all begins with a simple step, an incremental decision and action.

In Matthew 5:18 it says, “For Assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will be by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.”

The jot or the tittle that Jesus is referring to in the Scripture is the smallest letter in Hebrew. This smallest letter has huge significance. The tenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the yod and it looks like our apostrophe. The smallest letter in the Greek alphabet is the 9th letter, the iota. The lower case iota is as small as the yod.

yod –, iota —

In the Scripture Jesus is telling you the importance of every part of the Word of God. But there’s even more meaning and understanding of something as small as the letter yod or iota.

We understand the word iota to mean a small quantity or a jot. What does it take for you to fulfill your purpose, grow in the infinite, and be a powerful disciple for Christ? Just one small action at a time, transforming you hour by hour, day by day, and year by year until He returns.

The smallest of letters is at the beginning of the following words: Jerusalem, Yahweh, and Jesus. All of these words start with the yod. For you newness of life and change starts with the smallest steps, the smallest of actions, and an iota of change.

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand” (Zechariah 4:10).

This Scripture is speaking of the rebuilding of the temple and the Jews small actions to accomplish a massive task. You are the temple, and God rejoices at each action and smallest choice you take to rebuild His temple.

He chose to place Himself in this earthen vessel and is urging you in this Scripture not to despise the small actions, choices, and changes you make as you move forward in the monumental task of becoming like Him. Feel good about even the smallest of progress, just keep moving.

“Though you’re beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly (Job  8:7).

The choices and effort you make today will produce good fruit for tomorrow. What you plant will produce a harvest of increase and abundance as each year moves closer to the soon coming return of Jesus Christ.

“Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!” (1 Corinthians 6:3).

You have a specific calling, a specific purpose. It begins with one small choice at a time to be molded into His image. Pursue transformation and allow nothing to hinder your pursuit of Jesus. Make the minute by minute, day by day, year by year decisions to exchange the finite and limited for the infinite and limitless. You do this one small step at a time, one choice at a time. You are being prepared to walk into your destiny. A destiny where you will rule and reign with Christ. Choose to prepare with purpose for that day to fulfill all that He has planned for you.
